Targeted Grazing along the Cumberland River
When: September 28: 12-1pm
Where: The Cumberland River Compact, located on the 3rd floor of the Bridge Building, 2 Victory Ave, Nashville, TN 37213.
In order to inspect the 3 mile Metro Center levee to ensure structural stability, it is necessary to manage the vegetation. However, the steep slopes and rough terrain makes this a difficult task… unless you have a flock of sheep! Strategically using sheep to clear the overgrown levee has proven to be successful. Sheep are biologically built to act like four-legged lawnmowers, defoliating everything from the ground up to 5-6 feet high. Their balance and agility allows the sheep to navigate steep slopes and thick brush with no problem. The Nashville Chew Crew’s Owner and Urban Shepherd, Zach Richardson, and Metro Water Service’s Sonia Allman will discuss targeted grazing along the levee. http://ow.ly/eMr830ffdNB
